Sanchez-Barr founded the company several years ago and started offering classes and camps out of the Severna Park Community Center add Kinderfarm Park. The programs featured the live, exotic Green Highlander Lodge creatures she and Barr kept in the basement of their Anne Arundel County home. As the business grew, it became time to move the animals and the center’s offerings into a bigger, permanent space. Will grew up in Upstate New York where his love and curiosity for nature began. At ESF, Will majored in Conservation Biology with a focus in Environmental Education & Interpretation. Brady is married to Mei Len Sanchez-Barr, a marine biologist and educator who runs eco-educational programs for kids.

You can go to to the western suburbs and enjoy the Brookfield Zoo, Morton Arboretum and DuPage Children’s Museum. Go northwest for Legoland Chicago (actually in Schaumburg) with a visit to Busse Woods and Woodfield Mall. And visiting San Diego in the off season means you can avoid the crowds. Animal Caretakers & Training 2: Creature Careers

If your child is exhibiting any cold-like symptoms, nausea, or fever, please keep your child home. If your child is fever/symptom/vomit-free after a full 24 hrs, (and all family members are not sick), he/she may return. If symptoms continue, since we do not know if it is a cold, stomach bug or COVID, we would need for your child to sit out for 5 days from the first sign of symptoms OR bring us negative COVID test results. In one recent after-school training session, Sanchez-Barr had the children sit a circle on the floor around Ziggy, a bearded dragon.

Now the Highland Center Lodge, at the 6,000-acre Crawford Notch State Park, built nine years ago with sustainability in mind, can be added to the list. A majority of its windows face south for passive solar heating, the frame is made from recycled local steel, and it uses eco-friendly carpets, paints, and composting toilets. The benefits of eco adventures go beyond the obvious; they can be personally transformative but are often underestimated. Participating in activities that focus on sustainability often encourages mindfulness.

All of the Appalachian Mountain Club huts and lodges scattered throughout the White Mountains of New Hampshire have some unique story to tell. After interning at National Aquarium in Baltimore where she trained Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins, she worked with the California Sealion population at Audubon Zoo in New Orleans. Courtney then returned to Baltimore where she continued to volunteer with the dolphins while working as a behavior specialist for kids diagnosed with autism. Courtney received her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2020 from Ball State University. In 2022, she joined the team at Eco Adventures in order to work with her love and passion…kids and animals.
